Project overview

An ongoing independent advisory engagement started in August 2025, supporting a UK solar installer with India-linked sourcing, warehouse processes and the operational questions involved in moving equipment through an international supply chain.

The business challenge

Solar equipment sourcing involves coordinating multiple physical and administrative stages: supplier readiness, export and shipping documentation, sea freight, UK transport, warehouse visibility and installation-related stock availability. The business is also exploring possible geographic expansion.

My role & scope

External operations and international logistics adviser helping the team think through processes, software choices, movement of goods and future options. Implementation decisions and regulated clearance activities remain with the business and appropriately qualified providers.

How the work was approached

01 / Understand the equipment flow

Reviewed how sourced products could move from India-linked suppliers into UK receiving, storage and installation operations.

02 / Review warehouse systems

Discussed warehouse software and practical stock-handling approaches to improve operational visibility.

03 / Support logistics planning

Advised on transport arrangements, sea-freight planning and documentation requirements relevant to export coordination.

04 / Coordinate UK operations

Supported discussions around local UK logistics, warehouse-team workflows and hand-offs.

05 / Research potential expansion

Researched operational and customs considerations relevant to possible EU and US market entry; these remain exploratory activities.

Outcomes & highlights

UK–IndiaSourcing and logistics coordination

This engagement is ongoing, with process advisory and research continuing. No project-wide quantified savings, successful EU/US launch or customs clearance outcomes are claimed. Customs-related input is research and coordination, not legal advice or licensed brokerage.

What this project demonstrates

For a growing installation business, reliable availability of the right equipment matters as much as the purchase price. Practical visibility across sourcing, transit and warehouse stages makes expansion decisions more informed.
